Pompey Rod and Gun Club holds New York State Hunter Safety courses for both gun and bow at various times throughout Spring, Summer, and Fall. The best way to find a class is to go to the DEC website: https://www.dec.ny.gov/outdoor/92267.html and search by area code. When we do offer classes at our club, the class is announced via email to members, posted on our Facebook page, and added to this website.
New York is now going to offer a fully online hunter education course so that students can get certified during this time when we cannot offer in-person courses.
Anyone age 11 or older can take the online course and you must be a resident of New York State. Students who successfully complete the course, and pass the final exam, will get a hunter education certificate. The course can be found at https://www.hunter-ed.com/newyork/
